From Egypt
Mostafa Kandil co-founded Swvl in Cairo in 2017 with $30,000 of his own and his co-founders’ money, building a mass-transit booking platform that listed on Nasdaq in 2022 — one of the first Middle Eastern startups to do so. Before Swvl he worked at Google in Dublin, helped run Rocket Internet’s Carmudi in the Philippines and launched markets for Careem. He studied at the American University in Cairo.
