Sir Sam E. Jonah

From Ghana
Sir Sam Jonah began his career in 1969 underground at the Obuasi gold mine and became CEO of Ashanti Goldfields in 1986, growing it from a single mine into a multinational — in 1996 the first operating African company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. After the merger that created AngloGold Ashanti he served as its Executive President, and he founded Jonah Capital, an investment holding company with interests in mining, real estate, agriculture and financial services. He holds an honorary British knighthood and Ghana’s Companion of the Order of the Star.
