From Egypt
Dr. Iman Bibars is widely credited with introducing social entrepreneurship to the Arab world. She launched Ashoka Arab World in 2003 and has grown it across 11 countries, electing more than 100 Arab social entrepreneurs as Ashoka Fellows. She co-founded and chairs the Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women (ADEW), Egypt’s first microfinance organisation for women heads of household, and holds a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Sussex.
